IT industry is constantly and rapidly developing. New technologies appear including development tools. We propose to read about new programming languages.

Microsoft Power Fx (2021)

Introduced in early 2021, this language was created by Microsoft to work comfortably with the Power Platform. It is based on Excel application syntax. Even a newcomer in IT can develop on Microsoft Power Fx due to the low entry threshold. Support of the big industry is a kind of guarantee for the bright future of this tool.

Ballerina (2017)

The language is developed by the company WSO2. It is designed to work with the cloud applications. It’s included into the list of general-purpose static typed programming languages. It has a relatively simple syntax, it combines features of such popular IT tools as JavaScript, Go, Python and Java. It’s advantages are cross-platform and wide possibilities of integration with different services.

ReasonML (2016)

An object-functional relatively new programming language developed by the social network Facebook specialists as a more productive, simpler, and safer alternative to JavaScript. That’s why the syntax of ReasonML is very similar to JS. The advatages include immutability, strict typing, easy integration with applications written in JS and suitability for creating React applications.

Swift (2014)

Created by Apple as a replacement for Objective-C. It is used to release updates and create applications for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS operating systems. Recently it has also been used for the Android applications releases. This language allows developers to experiment, to create their own versions of the tool. It’s fast, simple, and much in demand.

Other new programming languages

  • Crystal (2014). Combines the speed of C, the convenience of Ruby, and high flexibility.
  • TypeScript (2012). Improved and enhanced JavaScript version.
  • Elixir (2012). A dynamic programming language with high fail-safety and performance.
  • Julia (2012). A tool designed specifically for analytics and scientific research.

Each of the mentioned programming languages is not the newest ones, but each is no more than ten years old.
